"You’re Not the Man I Married"
I know that I became your wife
when you were very young
But, you were so mature back then
unlike any other one
I fell for you, head over heels
and all your boyish charms
You held me close, we gently danced
and I melted in your arms
You treated me like no one else
had ever treated me before
It was so easy to fall for you
there was so much that I adored
I gave you all the trust I had
and all the love held in my heart
You were there for me, the day we met
right from the very start
We made it through some pretty rough times
and always stayed together
Whenever one of us was down
the other made it better
I really thought we would always be
a couple, husband and wife.
I know that when I said, “I do.”
I meant the rest of my life
Then you said you no longer loved me
my world would fall and shatter
It hurts more than you’ll ever know
to feel "I no longer matter"
You’ve become a different man
than the one that I first married
The burden I hold within my heart
is the biggest I’ve ever carried
You’re not the man that I danced with
and laughed with many hours
You’re not the man I joked with
and listened to in the showers
You’re not the man that held me in bed
and chased away my fears
You’re not the man I’ve lived with
for all those love-filled years
You’re not the man who cared for me
as much as I cared for in return
You’re not the man who taught me true love
or the man that was eager to learn
You’re not the man that would walk with me
and talk about anything
You’re not the man that used to ride with me
and liked to hear me sing
You’re not the man that was loyal to me
that I trusted with all of my being
You’re not the man that I trusted completely
you’re now the man that is cheating
But, maybe I shouldn’t feel so sad
or cry these unseen tears
The man that you have now become
holds a future of lonely years.
