"Don't Be Afraid To Love"

Some say that love is beautiful;
And it should make you smile.
But, sometimes love can hurt you;
And it can hurt for quite awhile.

Perhaps it is a lost love;
That makes you cry at night.
Or maybe it's a selfish love;
That doesn't treat you right.

Maybe it's a love gone bad;
From hurtful things one said.
Or maybe a love that's gone astray;
And to another, they were led.

Perhaps it's just a love that's lost;
As two people drifted apart;
And as the space grew wider;
The love drifted from their heart.

No, not all love is beautiful;
But it's something we all want.
For without it, we feel nothing;
And the lack of it would haunt.

We all need love, in some way;
From different people in our lives.
If it were not for love, good or bad;
I doubt that anyone survives.

Don’t be afraid to love someone;
Even though it may hurt one day.
You will survive to love again;
And that hurt will fade away.
