Now That You Are Gone
Now that God has taken you;
To live with Him above.
I feel more free to express myself;
About my feelings and my love.
I always loved you, Mother;
More than you could know.
But I never knew how to tell you;
Or how to let it show.
I never quite felt I was good enough;
I fell short within your eyes.
And now I cannot talk to you;
We,ve said our final good-byes.
I think that you probably know me now;
Now that you are gone;
You understand that I am a person;
And not necessarily wrong.
I really hope you know me now;
For the daughter that I am.
But have no regrets for what we were;
Cause it's no longer "I can't", but "I can"
I have to leave the past behind me;
And keep what good memories I 've retained.
My childhood wasn,t the greatest;
But there's no one to be blamed.
I will miss you Mama and think of you;
I do it now most every day.
And it will always be with loving thoughts;
Not what should have been yesterday.
