Memorial Day
It's time to get out the artificial flowers;
And place them on your grave.
And when the day is over with;
I'll collect them again to save.
Why do I do this every year;
And come to talk to you?
To kneel beside your marker;
And cry before I'm through?
I don't need the artificial flowers;
Or go through the ritual too.
Cause I can talk to you anytime;
In fact, I always do.
I guess it's just for my own peace;
That I come to say a prayer.
Thinking that somehow you'll know;
That I am kneeling there.
Every year I'll go back again;
And kneel down as I pray;
And hope from deep within my heart;
That you're hearing what I say!
