Panic Disorder
They have always told us over and again;
"A panic attack never killed anyone."
But the symptoms can be so horrendous;
That it has caused suicide in some.
So many will not admit they have it;
Because family and friends can be unkind.
They accuse you of maybe making it all up;
And say "I think it's all in your mind!"
You shake and tremble nervously;
And perhaps you hyperventillate.
You look like you've totally lost it;
You can't keep anything straight.
You're first thought is to run away;
And find a place to hide.
You shut yourself alone in a room;
And pull yourself inside.
You're so ashamed you have this "thing."
And wonder why it's you.
Are you really going crazy?
Is there anything you can do?
You find out that it's in your genes;
And runs in your family.
Will you pass this "curse" to your son or daughter?
In time I guess you'll see.
If left untreated, the symptoms change;
And soon total depression sets in.
Then if you still don't get any help;
You're agrophobic, and always stay in!
But, I want to tell anyone that will listen;
I went for meds and therapy.
And I am living proof to all with this;
That you can survive, you'll see.
Yes, there is light at the end of the tunnel;
It takes lots of work and prayer.
But if you seek the help you need;
You'll eventually make it there.
Always hold on to any hope you have;
It has always worked for me.
And some day soon, your light will shine;
And your hope will set you free!
