Our Flag
Did you ever really look at our flag?
There is oh so much to see.
There are many stories within it;
I'll stop and think, to remind me.
We know that each star is there;
To remind us of the fifty states.
And that the thirteen stripes of course;
Are the thirteen colonies it makes.
It's full of so much history;
So many stories to tell.
Of all the wars that it has seen;
And all the lives that fell.
The "canton" is the field of blue;
With each star neatly in place.
But there is no where on the flag;
That depicts a certain race.
That's because the flag is "one";
It stands out above the rest;
It shows that "all" that died for it;
Were Americas very best.
The red reminds me of blood that was shed;
For people like you and me;
So that it could wave so proudly;
Over a country that is "free."
So, the next time that you look at the flag;
Maybe think of what you are seeing.
To me it stands for all we are;
It is our very being!
