I Remember
I remember poodle skirts;
And saddle shoes to wear.
And bright scarves tied in pretty bows;
Held up the pony tail in my hair.
I remember roller-skating car hops;
At all the A & W's';
And I remember Elvis' voice;
Belting out Blue Suade Shoes.
I remember getting our first tv set;
Of course it was black and white.
And watching shows like Ed Sullivan;
On a family Sunday night.
And of course there were the sock hops;
Held in the high school gym.
That's when you wore your jeans turned up;
Cause that's what was really "in".
I remember having a slinky;
And of course a hula hoop.
The boys were all called "hoods" back then;
And hung out in a group.
And we had our "slumber parties";
That's when us girls had fun.
We'd sneak out in the middle of the night;
And go for a little "run."
I remember crusing around;
On a swinging Saturday night.
Or just walking with my "steady" guy;
And standing by a streetlight.
They say that you can never go home;
Or turn back that hands of time.
But I sneak back whenever I want;
In the pathways of my mind.
