What Is Beauty

I've heard it said many times before;
"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."
When young, I thought it was all cosmetic;
But it's changed, now that I'm older.

I have learned to look inside a person;
For their beauty that I may find.
It's amazing what beauty is hidden inside;
It's a beauty of a different kind.

Beauty isn't pretty or handsome;
And it isn't being muscular or thin.
It goes far much deeper than that;
Beauty comes from deep within.

Beauty is a kind and loving heart;
It's a friend you have for life.
It can also be caring and sharing;
With a husband or a wife.

Beauty is love of your neighbor;
And offering a helping hand.
Being there when you're needed;
To help in any way that you can.

Beauty is holding a frightened child;
When awakened by a storm.
It's holding them tight against you;
Keeping them safe and warm.

I see many kinds of beauty now;
In the friends I get to know.
It shines like a beacon from their heart;
And lights up their very soul.
