My Forever Friend
She is someone I met in school;
When we were only five.
In kindergarten we played a lot;
And from there our friendship thrived.
We went all through school together;
Our High School was a blast.
She made my memories of those years;
A forever treasured past.
We used to do everything together;
We became closer as we grew.
We would both walk home together;
Every day after school.
After graduation we drifted apart;
She went her way, I went mine.
I thought of her often and wrote letters too;
We kept in contact over time.
Recently she moved back here;
And lives a couple miles away.
Now we're back together again;
And this is where we'll stay.
Everyone should have a friend;
Like the kind she is to me.
We laugh a lot and act silly, too;
And I can let go and be free.
It's impossible to feel bad at all;
Whenever she's around.
The laughing and the joking starts;
And smiles replace the frown.
Yes, whenever we get together;
We laugh at anything.
But we're both aware that laughter;
Is the best medicine life can bring.
Whenever we get together now;
It's a wonderful, natural high.
I'm so glad she's back in my life;
Never again to say, "Good-bye"!
