Why Can't We Adopt
I think about this all the time;
I have for the past few years.
It just doesn’t make any sense to me;
And I've cried so many tears.
They say that we cannot adopt;
No child will be given to us.
They say that I am a little too old;
But what about love and trust?
We also don't have enough money I guess;
Just enough to take care of a child.
But apparently it takes a whole lot more;
The amounts are astronomically wild.
So many little ones need a home;
Not just here but far away.
In lands that starvation is rampant;
And families go astray.
We would gladly take any one child;
And give it a place to live.
Not only do we have a home to offer;
But all the love we could give.
It just doesn't seem to be fair at all;
That there is no possible way.
That we should be turned down by them;
When there's little ones dying each day.
What great harm could it possibly cause;
To entrust us with one little soul?
We'd do the best we possibly could;
To the ends of the earth we'd go.
That's how much we'd like to adopt;
But it’s no longer part of our plans.
I'm a little too old, and we're not rich enough;
So these children are in God's hands.
