To My Grandchild
Little one, you'll never know;
How long I've waited for you.
I dreamed of you so often;
And now, my dreams come true.
The first time that I saw you;
You were sleeping, oh so sound.
I looked upon your little face;
In my heart, a place you found.
I touched your tiny hands and feet;
And felt your pale, soft skin.
I felt all warm and soft inside;
The love flowed from within.
I watched the little faces you made;
How you wrinkled up your nose.
I held your little hand in mine;
And rubbed your little toes.
I sat and rocked you in the chair;
As peacefully, you slept.
Such happiness I felt inside;
So much that my heart wept.
It wept with tears of pride and joy;
As I smiled on your face.
You felt at home within my arms.
It was your "special" little space.
You truly are a miracle;
Sent here, from God, above.
And forever I'll remind you;
With gentle, Grandma love.
