A Child’s Love
I doubt that there is anything;
As pure as a child’s love.
You know that it is from their heart;
As if sent from God above.
They look to you for special needs;
And to teach them right from wrong.
They count on you to read a story;
Or to sing a special song.
They want to know that they are loved;
And are special in your eyes.
The love that you return to them;
Could never be disguised.
They are smart and know the truth;
They know if you're not real.
A broken heart to a little child;
May never mend or heal.
So take that "special" love they offer;
That's pure and from their heart.
And let them know you feel the same;
Right from the very start.
Eventually it will come back to you;
As they grow and they mature.
And know that all the love they gave;
Was heartfelt and sincere.
