The Family Quilt

Grandma made the quilt by hand;
Into every stitch she put her love.
It's been handed down through the family;
As Grandma watches from above.

The patchwork squares are beautiful;
So many bright colors for all to see.
I was so excited when the day arrived;
For the quilt to be given to me.

It stands for love and family;
And tenderness from the heart.
It means warmth, caring and sharing;
The things that set our family apart.

The quilt isn't just a blanket to use;
Or to drape across a chair.
It's a symbol of our heritage;
And the life that we all share.
