I Forgive You Daddy
It wasn't easy living with you;
When I was just a child.
I remember the hatred I felt;
With your drinking, you were wild.
I have no loving memories of you;
And have written them down in verse.
I used to think that it was hell;
And nothing could be worse.
But you are gone, and I am grown.
No more hatred do I bear.
I know it was a sickness you had;
That's why you didn't care.
I have now forgiven you;
But I no longer feel the shame.
Cause I have given the guilt back to you;
You were the one to blame.
I hope that God is holding you now;
And you can see what I've become.
I hope you’re finally proud of me;
For, my battles, I have won!
