Christmas In Iraq
The young soldier lies awake at night;
And he feels so all alone.
He's spending Chtristmas in Iraq;
So many miles from home.
No white Christmas for him this year;
As he prays, and folds his hands.
Asking God to watch over him;
As he beds down in the sands.
What presents does he ask for this year?
As he looks toward the skies?
He asks God to prtoect his friends;
As tears well in his eyes.
He asks for guidance, from above;
"God, stay with me in this fight."
"Never leave my side Dear Lord,"
"Please help me do what's right."
He thinks of those that are at home;
All the rest of his family.
As they gather all togther with love;
The way it should really be.
Night fallls all around him now;
And he finishes his prayer.
He glances at the rest of his unit;
Laying along side him there.
The only present he really wants;
Is for all the shooting to cease.
And all the people of this world;
To live together, in peace!
